Gagalicious

Today is the day! The day when I get to see one of my favorites perform on stage once AGAIN! I will be singing my heart out and have a FAB time with my girls, Natalie (check out her blog) and Kayla. The last concert was epic and I am convinced that tonight will not fall short! It is so amazing to see an artist so dedicated to her fans and truly go for what she believes in. Her last song, Born this Way, describes it all.

However she is not only a phenomenal singer, she is now considered a fashion icon by the CFDA. Her style is just HER and you can not help but appreciate that. She is who she is. Most people will believe that she is insane for all her outfits, but who cares! She is living her life and wearing what she likes. Are you?

Check her out doing the cat walk for the Mugler Fall 2011 show:

Seriously, how much more badass can she be?! The collection is so dark and mobbish, which I AM A TOTAL FAN OF! For you that truly know me, you know why. ;) Being the diva that she is, she purchased the entire collection and why not. She is Lady G after all!

She was also featured on Vogue's March issue. No joke, I plan on framing the cover.

Here are my favorite photos:

Alexander McQueen gold embroidered tulle dress. Tom Binns Design necklace.

Hussein Chalayan black leather jacket, Lady Gaga’s own.

Lady Gaga in Louis Vuitton silk blouse and pants.

“She has the fashion, the performance—the entire vision,” says Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine. “It’s very, very rare.”

As if being an incredible singer and having a risky style is not enough, she is a strong gay activist! And I love her even more for that! I stand by her 100% and believe that every individual should have the right to do as they wish, it does not matter if you are black, white, or beige! ;) There is nothing wrong with loving who you are and no one should tell you otherwise.

To add to her amazingness, she created a nude lipstick and lipglass for all skincolors for MAC Cosmetics . She is the spokeswoman for their AIDS FUND and 100% of the proceeds go to the cause. I have the lipstick and it is truly one of my favorites. Go out and get it!

As you can see, I am a huge fan and I am beyond ecstatic for tonight! I will leave you with this article to read, titled: "Lady Gaga on What drives her" by WWD.

Have a fab Tuesday everyone!

24 more days!

24 more days until the magic starts for me! The magic that I am speaking of, you guessed it, seeing the champions play. After reading an article last night on my MLB At Bat app, I realized that some of the big players did not show their talent throughout the entire season of 2010. The Rookie of Year to begin with, Mr. Buster Posey, Freddy Sanchez, Pat Burrell, and Ross the boss. These guys were significant to getting our title. Most will agree that pitching was our strong point, we have not lost any major pitchers and by having these guys from the get go only adds to our offense in a major way. Let us not forget, the 21 year old kid, Maddie! Having the best record in Spring Training 15-5 can only signify that this team is ready for some real ball and I am ready for 4/9/11 6:05 pm to come!

Inspiration

The way that I start to read my magazines is by looking at the pictures first followed by reading the articles at a later time. Way later. After doing one run through, I go back and cut the pictures of items and outfits that I love! I take the pictures and make collages. Some pictures land on my cork board or my scrapbook. Yes, my nerd self has a scrapbook and I love it! My cork board is my daily inspiration, since it can be easily viewed. Often times, I wake up and I have no clue what to wear. What do I do? I go to my cork board and get some inspiration for my outfit that day. My scrapbook is just to look at and once I have a coffee table, it will be there for everyone to enjoy. The pictures on my cork board change every season and more are added every time I get a new magazine. As you can see from the picture below, the scrapbook is sectioned off with my favorite trends. I make a new collage for every season. These are just a few things that I take pleasure in doing for the start of every season. What inspires you everyday?

I also have some of my barbies clothes from when I was younger! Just to reminisce  <3

Also I must add this, my favorite app on my iPhone is chicfeed. It is an application that has pictures from the following blogs: The Sartorialist, Face Hunter, Jak And Bill Blog, Cherry Blossom Girl, LookBook, and atlamira. Love Love Love! Some more inspiration to enjoy!

"You're Killing Me Smalls!"

Most people have a hard time deciding what their favorite movie is, but that is not the case for me. As a child, I enjoyed watching Benny, the Jet, Rodriguez, play baseball over and over. Just ask my Mama. Not a movie lover herself, but she knows all about this movie. Things have not changed much, as a 23 year old. The only difference is that I know now most of the lines and most people will find it annoying to watch the movie with me. I can not blame them. This movie is simply the best. Laughing the entire time and dreaming about finding a man just like Benny (just 10 years older, Timmay, maybe?). My siblings have grown to love and appreciate this movie as much as I do, so it is one the favorites for the Ochoa's and a favorite for a movie night with a slice of pepperoni/mushroom pizza for Erik and I and a slice of pepperoni/sausage for Cynthia and Edwin. Perfect night, perfect date. Erik's current status on facebook is "Man watching The Sandlot never gets old!" I agree with him 110%!

My favorite scenes have to the following:

The Pool Scene:
"I swam here every summer of my adult life. Every summer there she is lotioning, oiling, oiling, lotioning, smiling, SMILING, I CAN'T TAKE THIS NO MORE!"

Fourth of July:

I just had to add Ray himself!  Because frankly just by listening to the song, you can remember the actual scene!

Encounter with the Arch Rival Team, Tigers:

"You play ball like a girrrrrl!"

The other scenes would have to include Small's cover up using "The Great Bambi" as his excuse to not knowing a thing about "The Great Bambino"and Ham's frustration with Smalls at the camp out. Classic.

As you may already know, Benjamin is my favorite character! The second character would have to be the ballsy, Michael "Squints" Palledorous. Everything that came out of this mouth was simply hilarious and his skinny boy was the epitome of a savage. At the end he got what he mostly wanted in the world, Wendy Peffercorn.

The movie did end in a sour note for a Giants fan. Stealing home and you are playing against my favorite team? Come on Benny! But even with that said, it does not change my choice for my favorite movie. The Sandlot released in 1993 is my favorite movie of all time. It has so many positive messages that anyone can simply enjoy this classic movie:

- Try something new, be brave (Smalls did)!
- Follow your dreams (Benny did)!
- Never play with a baseball signed by "The Babe"

And lastly, baseball is the greatest sport of all time! ;)

"Remember kid, there's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die, follow you heart kid and you'll never go wrong." - "The Babe"

Did you know?

Mr. Mertle shows the boys a photo of himself with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Of course it is a retouched photo. Jones' head was put on the body of Hall Of Fame slugger Jimmie Foxx who was the real player pictured with Ruth and Gehrig. The real photo can be seen in many baseball books.

Now go watch the movie!

SF GIANTS MEMORIAL

Being the overachiever that my sister is, she agreed to making a memorial for extra credit for her Social Studies grade. The memorial could be about anything. Ideas were floating around as to how it will be made. She had the idea of doing a replica of a President's memorial.Well that idea was crushed soon after, our brother, Erik, gave her the idea of creating a Giants Memorial! Forget doing a replica of our first President's memorial, the Giants just won a World Series Title! Using her imagination, she came up with this amazing memorial. I am so proud and feel so honored to be her older sister. She inspires me everyday! <3 you my Cynthia!

Don’t EVER stop believin’

“Orange” October was the new nickname for that magical month in 2010 as the San Francisco Giants were on their way. No one anticipated that the Giants would make it through to November baseball. Why? In my opinion, because the media (ESPN and MLB) said so. The Giants only had their beloved and faithful fans, I being their number #1 fan (jk) believing in them. Being a Giants fan, I know what TORTURE is and how it feels to lose after having the lead for most of the game. Therefore, my mindset for the entire month of October and the beginning of November was to take one game at a time.

The “castoffs and the misfits”, as Manager Bruce Bochy called the team, were not favored to win, let alone compete for the National League West. How were they going to take over first place of the most competitive division in Major League Baseball when the San Diego Padres, who occupied first place for most of the year and had up until the last series of the year beat the Giants 12 times out of 18 games? Well, on the third day of “Orange” October and after two close defeats to start the final series with the Padres, Jonathan Sanchez pitching in the most important game of his life delivered and WE beat the Padres 3-0. San Francisco Giants: National League West Champions. Sounds good right? This would mark the beginning of the most tortuous and exciting month of my life only comparable to graduating from college. I would like to add; to the Padres fan that sat in front of me at the September 11 game, “Who’s your daddy now?” Punk.

First up is the Division Series against the Atlanta Braves. The Braves with a record of  91-71 captured the wild card spot. After a back and forth first few games, Cody Ross helped secure a series win with a homerun thus ending Bobby Cox’s 29th and final managerial year. Now on to the Championship Series with the Philadelphia Phillies! Before we send the Braves back to Georgia, let us recap the amazingness that Timmay (as I like to call him) provided us in Game 1 of the series.

Yes, that video also gave me the chills and made my heart beat 92 mph like Timmay’s heater. Oh yes, espn had the Braves as their favorite to win the series.

At this point, I was still taking it one game at a time. The Phillies were thought to be a tough team to beat, with their “HALLADAY” phenomenon fresh off his no hitter against the Cincinnati Reds. In my opinion, having a 14 strikeout complete game shutout is way more impressive. Don’t you think or am I being bias? I will say this, Timmay is one my favorite baseball players. But can you blame me? Do not mention his performance during that unusual month of August and we can continue to be friends. Well this Philadelphia series in my mind would be tough for the Giants. All the games were close with the exception of the second game, which the Giants lost 6-1. Yes. I know. Freakin’ torture! Jonathan Sanchez could not finish the game and was unable to go deep into a game for the rest of the postseason. Breathe. The series was now tied. The third game was perfection. Here is a fun fact that I got from my Sports Illustrated 2010 Commemorative Issue: “Matt Cain, Javier Lopez, and Brian Wilson combine to hand Philadelphia its first postseason shutout in 49 games, since the 1983 World Series.” Perfection, Giants were up again 2-1. Leave it to Uuuuribe (now with the rivals down south, but don’t blame the kid) to hit a sacrifice fly ball and bring Huff Daddy home to win Game 4. Errors set the Giants back and the Phillies “phenomenon” won game 5. Well, Game 6 belonged to the Giants as Uribe comes through again hitting a homer to break a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning. Brian Wilson strikes out Ryan Howard looking and sends the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS TO THE WORLD SERIES!! By the way Cody Ross (a late season pick up) won the MVP award by contributing 7 hits, 5 RBI’s, 4 runs, 3 homeruns, and a .350 average.

Let’s start with this YouTube video, which as you may know, was a very common performance among the Giants players for Game 1.

The Godsend Cliff Lee, as the media made him out to be WAS a factor in game 1. But not in a good way. The game became a slugfest as described by Sports Illustrated and down right embarrassing. But the game did get too close for comfort as the Giants prevailed 11-7. Game 2: Giants 9-0. A SHUT OUT and the poor Rangers were starting to look like a piece of cake. Edgar Renteria finally shows off his greatness with 2 hits including a homer and 3 RBI’s. No luck for the Ranger’s offense as our dominant pitching put them in their place. Game 3 went to the Rangers (no sweep) with strong efforts from two of their best players, Josh Hamilton and Mitch Moreland. The Giants’ rookies made it happen in Game 4, with Posey and Bumgarner leading the way. I was able to breathe; my Giants were up 3-1. Could this be true? Were the Giants really on their way to winning the World Series? FUCK YEAHHHH! As Timmay says. Game 5, Lee vs. my man, and all I can remember is Wilson delivering the final strike. But here is a pretty awesome video that will help you relive the best day EVER for a Giants Fan:

I just cried.

But, my fellow Giants Fans, I will you leave with this:

Don’t EVER stop believin’

Just want to "Say Hey!"

As you may know, my name is Brenda! Most people know me as the crazy Giants fan or the girl that has an insane obsession with shoes, but I am a just girl that loves baseball and fashion. As a Giants fan, I can now die in peace knowing that my team has won a World Series and I was very much part of the 2010 season with attending every possible game. Since I was a child, I always needed to be the girl with the best dress and shoes at every party. So, my love for fashion started at an early age! I will share my favorite trends/collections and current news/past history about baseball, mostly about the Giants club! ;)

Hope you enjoy my blog!
